Recycling: what stages does your IT equipment go through?

Recycling is one of the core values of Archives Conseil! We recycle at all levels, your documents are not waste: they act as raw materials, and we are aware of this. We fight day after day to employ an eco-responsible lifestyle and encourage our customers to do the same. This includes recycling your computer equipment. Find out in this blog post how we do it.

The stages of recycling computer equipment

Our professional staff take care of dismantling, destroying and recycling your computer equipment. They begin by sorting the material according to its nature (computer, printer, telephone, etc.). They then disassemble to separate the various components (screen, motherboard, hard drive, etc.) and send them to the correct recycling channel. The hardware is also tested to check if it is still functional and to repair it if necessary. When it comes to your data carriers, we take 4 steps to ensure that no future use of the stored data is possible: degaussing, punching, overwriting and recycling. We follow European recycling standards. At the end of these processes, a certificate of treatment or recycling will be given to you.

Ecological and societal commitments

We make every effort to work in an eco-responsible environment. Our office equipment (filing cabinets, etc.) is notably recovered to provide school equipment for the benefit of children who have been placed in care. We also donate computer equipment that does not contain data (printer, mouse, keyboard, etc.) to an association that promotes the professional reintegration of people in difficulty. This association provides computer training aimed at reconditioning the equipment which will be resold at low prices to other associations.
